Mike Dew, Physical Therapist
|
Mike has been working with Jarryd since his sophomore year of high school and was the first person to take the bandages off of Jarryd's legs on day one. He has been with Jarryd through every surgery and played a large role in his overall recovery coming off of the amputation. All of the hard work they put in together the first three or four months after the amputation was directly related to Jarryd's quick recovery.
Jarryd feels that Mike knows him better then anyone he has ever worked with and continues to be a huge part of his life and progress moving forward. Mike Dew was named Rehabilitation Coordinator at UGA in August 2000 after serving two years as Director of Rehabilitation at Northwestern State University in Louisiana. Mike's responsibilities at UGA include supervision and consultation for rehabilitation services, rehabilitation protocol development, and instruction for classes in the Athletic Training Curriculum. He comes to UGA as a result of the partnership between St Mary's Hospital and the University of Georgia Athletic Association. In addition to his work at UGA, he serves as a Clinical Specialist in the Sports Medicine division of St Mary's Outpatient Rehabilitation.
